Thanks a lot for the compliment! And I made the armour scales out of modeling compound. It's not the best solution because it can break if you move too much. There are other solutions like made them out of latex or silicone, because it's much more flexible.
Hi , i have to say this is outstanding. Also i plan on cosplaying Thorin Oakenshield in 2 months when the hobbit part 2 comes out in december, this will be my first attempt at cosplaying ! So with that in mind could you tell me how hard it was to create this costume of your's?
i had thought of looking for parts in second hand store's : such as the outer -fur-coat, pants ect.
PS: if anyone has a "Reference sheet" for Thorin's Outfit: like a Character sheet but for all the Component's of his outfit. I would greatly appreciate it.
Hi there~ First: thanks a lot for your nice words. I really appreciate it that you like it. I started with it three months before I wanted to wear it and it was really hard work. Not just because of the sewing. I also wanted the almost perfect fabrics for this costume and the search for it was long and hard and sometimes really frustrating. And it is also a question of money and luck. I found almost immediately the right fabrics. Just the fur was difficult. So I think you just need your motivation, a bit patience and also a tiny bit luck and then your own Thorin costume will be a success.
It's a wig. I just bought a normal brown lace front wig and did the grey flicks of hair by myself. I also did the front hair an the forehead on my own because I couldn't find a wig which has hair like Thorin's.
